Highly durable advanced sol-gel materials formulae are created for suspension and delivery of a variety of nanoparticles and other materials. Further development and testing for spectral manipulation effects of nanoparticles.
R&D facility established for experimentation and optimization of the novel glass-based MetaShield formula as a medium to host the various plasmonic functional materials.
Chance discovery of new properties of the base MetaShield formula. When coated on glass the formula demonstrated an ability to enhance durability and break resistance, without adding color or dimensions. Intense research begins to investigate and optimize the formula for durability qualities. Attended and presented at conferences. Doubled size of R&D facility and staff.
Benergy is renamed MetaShield, to reflect more encompassing market potential of the base formula. Awarded grant from USTAR to improve nanoparticle induced spectrum manipulation and triple junction solar cell output and impact resistance. Received letter from the US Department of the Army's Research and Engineering Division acknowledging MetaShield's excellence in assisting the DOD with novel technology. Presented at Nanotech for Defense conference. Doubled facility size again and began beta production and test marketing. Began collaborative work with leading companies including smart device makers, defense contractors, and solar energy firms.
